Alleyways And This Lonely Freedom Ive Chosen

Two minutes of alley walking brought me here, one of only a few of yellow buildings I can recall. This picture doesn't look good and was messed with in Photoshop Mobile. Honorable mention for the grate in this image, whose gills are bent on the lower third and the severely trimmed tree, leaves returning in another season. View From The Columbus Literacy Council

Framed by dusty brick and cinderblock, rectangular windows look towards our midwest-wintery city center, frozen stone, drifted snow, leafless trees, tense rush-hour traffic...
Take a solid moment and ZEN OUT, right?. Shot on Iphone/Toy Camera App/Columbus, Ohio.

There Was Mist

Laid in snow angels for 29 minutes, it took 5 white Russians, all love my friend, walked till 245am, we tubed down that hill and I earnestly ran to be at the top as many times as could be fit in, my Niagra Falls flask worked ( with triple compliments and Knob Creek Kentucky Bourbon), where did our time go, like. give me 2 more hours, hold on to my feet, three bumps, and Pepsi colored snow.

Chainringed To Hope And All Our Dreams Coming True

From A Sight Above, Only We Know

Forgive me for my distance, hair in your line of sight, honesty a bell sounding on the summit of my two blocks away mountain.

Portrait Of My Percussion Carry-All

Its been many years now that this small piece of 1970's luggage, covered in brown vinyl, with two stainless steel latches, has been holding all my small percussion accessories. A previous owner has printed the name Thatcher in black permanent marker (not my name) between the two slightly oxidized latches. Contents include two small curry bowls that fit inside of each other that I stole from my favorite Indian restaurant, duct tape on the underside lid ( for drum muting), two chains, chopsticks, two metal goblets bought in Peterborough, Ontario ($1),
one of those drums that were used at the end of The Karate Kid that I so wish someone could tell me the name of, one lid to a cardboard scotch tube, and three small hand bells, the kind one would use in a bell choir (thanks Dusty, $0). Missing from the photo: one large shaker/rainstick from Kenya (thanks, Aidan), two tambourines of varying tonal quality, three bells of different shape, color, and tonal quality, various rocks, and two crotale ( both stolen over the years, which I still feel quite a lot of functional guilt about). Snow So Thick That It Filled My Plate And Left Me Satisfied

I could have removed my winter inventory: three shirts, two pairs of pants, long overcoat, boots, hat, glove, scarf, and just laid here forever. Shot on Iphone/Toy Camera App/Columbus, Ohio.

Crooked House, Crooked Rain

Old Wood planks and whitewash tilt and sway in the wind, expanding and releasing it's breath. This simple, beautiful two car garage is on Calumet Between Kelso and Crestview. Shot on Iphone/Toy Camera App/Columbus, Ohio.

College Moving Day And Its Great Overflowing Forget-It-All Trash Bonanza PT. 1

To commemorate the mass exodus of The Ohio State University's entire student population in early summer, trash dumpsters and the alleys that contain them are packed, filled, and ram-jammed with trash of all types. There are an obscene amount of beer cans, Natural Light cans, being the drink of choice for young college types in this part of the universe. There are many articles of clothing, shoes, broken electronics, and paper of all kinds. I met a man hunched in front of the rubble pile by one dumpster. He was a coin collector. He knew that these kids throw everything out this time of year, EVERYTHING, and one time he found some kind of extra special penny worth excessively more then a single cent. So he keeps hunting, poking around, uncovering the litter piece by piece, hope for hope. Shot on Iphone/Columbus, Ohio.

Stab Club Is Exactly Right

Stab Club is exactly right...or possibly the most frighteningly wrong words to read carved into a tree with a fucking KNIFE while walking mostly alone (spiritually solitary?) in the middle of the woods. It was snowing crazy puff-powdered flakes when I took this photo. Shot on Iphone/Columbus, Ohio.

Thrift Store Shoe Retirement/Destruction/End Of An Era

Bought for 5.95 American Dollars in the summer of 2009 when I was dirt broke, at a Volunteers Of America. Cheap, lightweight, and passably handsome for the price, they were a good find in a time of need. Now that there is a two and a half inch tear on the right shoe between the sole and the faux leather upper that exposes my small toes and allows water to creep in effortlessly, these faithful shoes will be placed with sadness into a large black trashcan, lined with a 30 gallon solid black trashbag, which in turn will make it's way to a dump or similar ecological wasteland. And quite possibly never be seen again. Shot on Iphone/Columbus, Ohio.

A Beaver is a Genius, Water-Dwelling Chew Artist

Near my favorite dog walking spot I came across this tree, battle-wounded from what I assumed was a twelve year old with a saw and a destructive instinct until I found two more trees in the area with similar type markings. Google then directed me to a beaver 'know-it-all' website which convinced me, on the basis of photographic evidence, that there is in fact beavers in our midst. Shot on Iphone/Columbus, Ohio.

View From an Atrium Window On a True Life Winter Morning

This is about as real a winter storm as can be mustered in our part of North America, and I for one rejoice at this sight out my window. Shot on Iphone/ Columbus, Ohio.

Interior of A Wood Fort That I Romantically Want To Water Proof and Then Live In

Near Whetstone Park, on an island in the Olentangy River with trees felled by beavers, and piles of driftwood, i found this fort/hut made of scavenged logs. It's large enough to accommodate 6-8 people and a small-sized fire-pit. Shot on Iphone/Columbus (Clintonville), Ohio.
